Chapter XXXV

Shadow stood behind Sesi, looking at the archers on the nearby roof taking careful aim at him. Jaens stood behind him, along with the other ANGELs. Muttering a slight incantation, he placed his hand on Sesi's head and his body flared up, buring into ashes. The archers knew they had lost, one blew on his horn and they ran for their lives, away from Shadow, away from death.

A teleportation rune burned out on the roof just below their feet, it glowed and they were gone.


ANGELs HQ
1 hour later...

Shadow flipped through some pages, studying the information they had gathered recently. Someone, wearing a mixture of pale blue and red coloured ANGEL gear, entered the Shadow's room.

"You're here, does the gear suit you?" Shadow asked.

The ANGEL nodded, and removed his mask, revealing himself.

Sesi stood in front of Shadow, getting used to his new gear at the same time. "It does seem to feel weightless, other than the weapon, I feel naked." Sesi said laughing.

"Sesi-" Shadow started but got cut off by Sesi.

"For starters, Sesi was the name given to me by the Clans Council. Call me by my birthname, Nova." Nova/Sesi said.

"Sure." Shadow said, nodding. "Here, this is your ANGEL ring."

Shadow passed Nova a Champion ring, and once Nova slipped the ring on, his gear vanished and was stored in the ring.

"Nice..." Nova said. "Guess having my death announced makes me a bad spy from now on."

"You were the one who said you wanted to fight and defend rather than recon."

"Yea.... but immediately promoting me to a Champion seems to be like pushing me out to die."

"You think too much, Nova. Your capabilites are recognised by me, you deserved your rank."

Nova nodded and looked at his ring, before he turned and was about to leave the room when Shadow called out.

"Sorry for accidentally making you relive your worst memory."

Nova turned and smiled at Shadow. "Sometimes, it's memories like those that pushes you to want to rid the world of evil." Nova then left the room.

Shadow clenched his fist tightly, closing his eyes.

"Don't worry, Nova. You are not the only one who wants to hunt Varrà down."
